BIOGRAPHY
Zheng Xi Yong 杨政熹 is a Malaysian Chinese actor and singer. His first name Zheng Xi 政熹 is pronounced "Jungsee" phonetically.
His most recent stage credits include leading the cast of 'Your Lie in April the Musical' at the Harold Pinter Theatre and Theatre Royal Drury Lane (West End) with music by Frank Wildhorn and direction by Nick Winston and Jordan Murphy. He also appeared in ‘The Tempest’ at Shakespeare’s Globe and the first London revival of 'Spring Awakening' at the Almeida Theatre, directed by Rupert Goold. The production was Olivier-nominated and won the Critics Choice for Best Musical.
On screen, Zheng Xi will soon film for a popular returning Netflix series. He is a series regular on the comedy drama series 'Boarders' (BBC). He also appeared in Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' (Warner Bros), 'Silo' (Apple TV) and 'Bridget Jones - Mad About the Boy' (Universal Pictures), and will appear in 'Sandokan' (Lux Vide and Fremantle).
He has been involved in numerous workshops with various theatres, including the Almeida Theatre and the Royal Court Theatre. For his full list of credits, please visit his CV.
Besides acting, Zheng Xi has a strong passion for teaching. With more than 7 years’ experience, he teaches both acting and singing, privately and at drama schools, working with a range of ages and abilities, from absolute beginners to full-time undergraduates and working professionals. His experience includes 1:1 Singing Technique, 1:1 Repertoire Coaching, Acting-through-Song, and Ensemble Singing at degree level at colleges including Urdang Academy, Emil Dale Academy, The Dang, and MPAA.
Zheng Xi is an alumnus of the Royal Academy of Music (MA in Musical Theatre - Distinction) and King’s College London (Bachelors of Law, Hons), where he studied on an overseas full scholarship. He is represented by Independent Talent Group.
